DECEMBER 9TH, 2008
Harley Gnarly-ness
Seth Enslow has his sights set on setting the record for the longest distance jump on a Harley Davidson
December 9, 2008, 5:18 PM
By: Ryan Leyba WWW.EXPN.COM

Crusty Demons creator Jon Freeman hit me off with an email containing an article about Seth Enslow and how he plans on setting the world distance record for jumping a Harley. Yeah, I said it — a Harley Davidson. Supposedly the bike is all tricked out, but come on — it's still a Harley. Leave it to Seth to get all gnar gnar like this and pull it off in Australia. It makes perfect sense really — Aussie's are amped on Seth and freestyle motocross. If Seth breaks the 160-foot mark like he plans, he'll no doubt enlarge his already massive legacy in the land down under. Good luck Seth and don't forget to wear a kidney belt!

Here are a couple paragraphs from the article, which ran in local paper, Mildura Weekly.

You've read about Evel Knievel... well this bloke is another real McCoy when it comes to death-defying acts, and he's got a titanium plate in his head to prove it! The Mildura Weekly's BEN PISCIONERI got the jump on everyone with his story about...

Daredevil Seth, and his bid for jump glory

MILDURA has been chosen as the base for freestyle motocross legend Seth Enslow's quest to break the world record for a distance aerial jump on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Mildura Weekly
Seth gets gnar gnar on his har har.
The freestyle and distance jumping identity slipped quietly into Mildura this week, or as quietly as you can when you're clad head-to-toe in tattoos and recognized almost universally from staring roles in the phenomenally successful Crusty Demons of Dirt series, and countless distance jumping triumphs, to continue preparations for his world record attempt in January.

"The longest anyone has jumped a Harley is 158 feet," Seth said on Wednesday as he and his supporters set up their Mildura test jump site.

"The object is to get over 160 feet, maybe up to 200 feet, and set a new Harley Davidson distance record."

Harley Davidsons meanwhile, are designed for road going. The bike Seth is going to use weighs in at 250kg, or a quarter of a ton, and has suspension designed to take the impact of the odd pot-hole or rough bit of road, not touching down from death-defying heights! As a result, there are a lot of unknowns for both the rider, and the men spinning the spanners, with the majority of attention given to the suspension. "I've never really 'flown' one any distance in comparison with the normal Jap bike, so I don't really know how it's going to fly," Seth said.

fleshwound filmsAUSTRALIAN CRUSTY DEMON PERFORMS DEATH DEFYING DOUBLE BACK FLIP INTO HARBOR

DECEMBER 9TH, 2008

Cam Sinclair performs world first stunt

Australia’s craziest daredevil, Cam Sinclair, performed the most death-defying action sports stunt ever seen in Australia today; when he performed a double back flip on his 125kg, 250cc dirt bike, before falling almost six storeys into the Sydney Harbour below. The sensational stunt officially launched the availability of tickets for the Crusty Demons ‘Beyond the Apocalypse’ Tour, which will make its worldwide debut in capital cities around Australia next May and June.

24 year old Sinclair will be performing the double back flip at each of the shows and is the first Australian to
ever perform the most dangerous trick in extreme sport and one of only three men in history. “The double back flip is a very scary trick and I was really nervous before performing this stunt. It is way too dangerous
to practice from ramp to ramp so I have only ever done it into a foam pit. Landing it in water added a whole new dynamic, but I knew once the adrenaline kicked in I would be able to pull it off.

“I was worried about coming down from 60 feet in full riding gear, but mostly I had to
get clear of the bike. To have a 125kg bike land on me from that height could have been deadly. “Knowing I am the first Australian to attempt and perform this trick is an awesome feeling and
I am really looking forward to doing it all around Australia,” concluded Sinclair.

Managing Director of Global Action Sports, Michael Porra, said the stunt performed today will be shown across the
globe and will elevate Sinclair’s status in the action sports world. This will continue to expand the more he performs the trick.

“Everyone who sees this trick is blown away. The ramp propels Sinclair close to 10 feet higher than a normal freestyle trick – almost 55 feet in the air. The rotation is almost twice as fast as for a normal back flip and so the consequences of crashing from that height with the bike spinning so fast are beyond comprehension. Sinclair has proven himself to be an extremely talented rider and this will now propel him on to the world stage he deserves,” said Porra.

Today’s stunt has given a taste of what fans can expect in the all new Beyond the Apocalypse Tour,
which will be the most action packed for the Crusty Demons ever. Not only will it feature the double back flip, but will also include the biggest and best rider line up ever to hit Australian shores as well as mind-blowing stunts, freaks, the gorgeous Crusty Babes and an incredible light, sound and pyrotechnics show. The star studded line-up includes one of the true legends and pioneers of FMX, Beau Bamberg, in his first ever Australian performance, X Games gold medallist Adam Jones , X Games medallist Mike Mason and Nixey Danielson all direct from the USA. Australia’s number one Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams will also be performing with fellow Aussies Steve Mini, Matt Schubring,
Joel Balchin, Kain Saul and Cam Sinclair. The UK’s Luke Smith will be joined by New Zealand’s top rider,
Levi Sherwood, who is one of the biggest upcoming talents in FMX and is the current Australasian Freestyle Motocross Champion.

America’s Caleb Moore will be making his Australian and Crusty Demons debut is who will bust out the craziest Quad FMX tricks including the insane back flip combinations, which have never been seen in Australia before. The Crusty Demons Beyond the Apocalypse Tour will visit Melbourne’s Acer Arena 15 May; Brisbane Entertainment Centre 22 May, Sydney’s Acer Arena 29 May, Adelaide Entertainment Centre 5 June and Perth’s Burswood Dome 12 June.

Who saw this coming? After dominating FMX competition on the AST Dew Tour last year with first place finishes at four of the five Tour stops, 2007 Dew Cup champion Nate Adams was pushed down the Panasonic Open podium by Blake "Bilko" Williams, a 23 year-old rider from Australia who just turned the world of FMX upside down in FMX Finals.

“Coming out here and beating Nate Adams Nate Adams at the first stop on the tour means a lot after the rough year I had last year,” says Williams.

The podium positions were reversed one year ago at the 2007 Panasonic Open, with Adams in first and Williams in 2nd, but an injury at that event left Williams sidelined him for the rest of the year.

“This is a very nice way of saying, ‘Hey, I’m back,’” says Williams. “Nate and I are teammates and good friends, and it’s an honor just to share a podium with him, much less come out on top. I’m looking forward to a good year of battling each other.”

FMX fans in Baltimore saw the first bout of the battle in grand style this weekend, with Williams throwing out Superman backflips, a backflip cordova, a flat spin 360 heel clickers and stylish, fully-corked rip flips in his runs. Adams answered with huge signature moves like the La-Z-Boy backflip, proving he’ll be a force all season long on the 2008 AST Dew Tour.

Williams qualified in 3rd place at the Panasonic Open Prelims on Thursday behind Mathieu Rebeaud and Robbie Maddison, but set the tone early in FMX Finals. His Run 1 score of 90.33 stood up through two rounds of intense competition from the world’s top FMX competitors and even his lesser Run 2 score of 89.83 would have been enough for 1st place. Adams scored 89.33 in his best run.

It truly is a whole new world in FMX competition: Williams is from Australia; Adams, in 2nd place, is from Glendale, Arizona; 3rd place finisher Mathieu Rebeaud is from Switzerland; 4th place rider Thomas Pagès is from France; and Panasonic Open fans saw FMX competitors this week from as far as Japan. As if FMX wasn’t already insane enough, the international invasion is giving it a serious shakeup in 2008. MORE INFO VISIT: http://www.ast.com/modules.php?name=Articles&mv=ShowArticle&ArticleID=676

NIGHT OF WORLD RECORDS WRAP - MADDO SMASHES 350ft

Australia’s own Evel Knievel, Robbie Maddison, has once again written himself into the Guinness Book of World Records after successfully jumping a death defying distance of 351feet on his Honda CR500 at the Crusty Demons Night of World Records presented by Rockstar Energy Drink at Calder Park in Melbourne, adding an astonishing 29 feet to his own record set in Las Vegas last New Years Eve.

Defying gravity - and logic - Maddison reclaimed his world title after rival Ryan Capes (USA) jumped 324 feet to better Maddison’s previous record of 322 feet and hold the record momentarily before the Australian rose to the occasion and set the new world record on his third attempt.

Maddison hit the ramp for his final attempt at over 100mph (165km) and rose more than 70 feet in the air before making a safe landing back to earth for a record shattering jump.

“I can’t explain how amazing it is to smash my own world record in front of a home crowd,” said an elated Maddison.

“I have been doing huge jumps and breaking personal records in training this week so I knew that I had it tonight, but nothing could of prepared me for how great this feels.

“All my family and friends are here and the crowd was awesome.”

The Australian was congratulated by American Challengers after deafening acclaim from the crowd, and said the opportunity to square off against competitors of equal calibre had been incredible.

“It was always going to be exciting with the jump off situation, Seth is a mate and a legend of the sport and Ryan is renowned as a long distance jumping specialist. The Aussie crowd got me over the line,” he added.

Capes fell short of the 351 mark, hitting the down ramp to complete a 324 foot effort.

While visibly disappointed, he said it was the greatest challenge he had ever faced and to hold the record even just for a moment was satisfying.

“I am looking forward to a rematch in the USA in the next twelve months it was Robbie’s night tonight,” said Capes.

Enslow set a personal best of 301feet and ten inches achieving his long held goal of breaking the 300 foot barrier.

“I am stoked, I may not have claimed the World Record but I am really happy with my result, that is the best I have jumped,” said Enslow.

History was created when the first ever three man jump off for the world record took centre stage despite the terrible weather conditions endured all week. The show went ahead and after some minor changes to the schedule to compensate for the conditions nine records were attempted with six written into the history books.

The official Guinness record topped off an extraordinary week for Maddison who broke the world record on four separate occasions in training during the week, reaching an incredible 376 feet by the day before the show.

Enslow will will commence the action, with Maddison jumping second and Capes holding the advantage of being the third and final rider who will know exactly what is required of him on the night. Each rider is expected to jump at least three times within their twenty minutes.

BARROBBIE MADDISON BREAKS HIS OWN RECORD JUMP IN TRAINING

MARCH 27TH, 2008
Crusty Demons Night of World Records
Calder Park, Melbourne, Australia
Saturday, March 29th

Australia’s own Evel Knievel, Robbie Maddison, this afternoon smashed his own world record that he set on New Year’s in Eve in Las Vegas this year, with an astonishing
leap of 346ft, adding an unbelievable 24ft to his previous mark. Treacherous conditions have prevented him from training all week, but after
few smaller training jumps today Robbie was ready to see exactly what his modified Honda CR500 and ramp could do.
The winds were still in the 30 to 40 km/h range but Robbie could not wait any longer to get out there and jump.

“I have been saying all week how far I know I can jump and it is so good to go out there and prove it today. I have now broken my own record in training and I definitely
have much more in the tank for Saturday.”

Maddison was jumping in front of a host of onlookers who were shocked and amazed at the extreme distances he was going, hitting the take off ramp at
almost 160 km/h and flying over 70 feet in the air.

His challengers Seth Enslow and Ryan Capes were watching on and now know it is going to take a huge feat to take the new world record of 346 feet off the Aussie in front of a massive home crowd of over 25,000 on Saturday night.EXPN

Rivalry's Intensify as Crusty Demons Night of World Records Looms
Wind Plays Havoc at World Record Training as Enslow Jumps 198 Feet

Three of the worlds best Freestyle Motor X riders Ryan Capes (Washington, Seattle, USA), Seth Enslow (California, USA) and Robbie Maddison (Wollongong, NSW, AUS) will attempt to set a new world record for the longest distance ever jumped on a motor cycle at the Crusty Demons Night of World Records presented by Rockstar Energy Drink in Australia on Saturday Night, March 29th

All three will be confronting their demons at Calder Park, Melbourne, when they try to further the current record held by Maddison of an incredible 322 feet which he achieved last New Years Eve in Los Vegas, USA.

Crusty Demons legend Enslow proved today why he his known as the craziest of them all when he geared up and hit an astonishing distance jump of 198 feet despite extremely strong gusty side winds that swept throughout Melbourne.

With no one else willing to jump, Enslow ordered his take off ramp to be adjusted slightly to the left, knowing that the strong winds would push him to the right, and launched himself 70 feet in the air. After landing the first jump he decided to go for another which almost ended in catastrophe.

A huge gust of wind pushed Enslow two whole metres to the right whilst up in the air causing him to draw on all of his years of riding experience to escape what was almost a terrible crash.

With jumping called off, Australia’s Robbie Maddison was practicing his take off speed and was reaching speeds of almost 200 km/h.

Each rider is alloted twenty minutes in which to break the world record. Enslow will will commence the action, with Maddison jumping second and Capes holding the advantage of being the third and final rider who will know exactly what is required of him on the night. The jumping schedule has seen the rivalry between the talented trio increase as the long awaited night looms large for all three legend riders. Each rider is expected to jump at least three times within their twenty minutes.

“I am scheduled to go second on the night which is going to be a definite disadvantage. Capes is last so he will know exactly what he has to jump to beat me,” said Maddison.

“This just means I will have to go out and there and jump a distance I know he won’t be able to match. I have prepared my bike to reach speeds of 200 km/h which can push me to 400 feet so that is the distance I am going to jump.”

Capes was quick to fire back at Maddison.

“I know I have the advantage jumping last and I am going to make the most of it. If Robbie jumps 400 feet than I will go further. The record is going to be mine.” Robbie Maddison, Seth Enslow and Ryan Capes serious approach and painstaking preparation ahead of this Saturday evening’s jump was clearly evident.

“A lot goes into planning for this event and this particular jump, you need to consider everything to get it just right,” said Maddison.

“Fitness is definitely a key, as is confidence. You need to be 100 hundred percent committed otherwise you risk falling short and taking a very big fall.”

“Having three of us going for the same record is going to be interesting – the mind games have already started,” he claimed.

Maddison starred in the celebrity race at the recent Australian Grand Prix and Enslow said it was now his turn to take centre stage.

“Robbie’s had his turn, now it’s mine,” quipped Enslow.

“I’ve been putting absolutely everything into my training and have been bettering my own jumps consistently in practice.”

“We’ll see who can pull it off on the night, there could be some surprises.”

Based in the United States, Capes and Enslow have had the chance to train together prior to the event and are both acutely aware of each other’s strengths.

Capes rallied the argument, stating that when it came to crunch time, he knew he would have what it takes to hold off both Enslow and local hopeful Maddison.

“I’ve been training with Seth so I can read him pretty well, he’ll talk it up but we’ll see who actually delivers on the night,” said Capes.

“Robbie will be tough to top, but I know I can just out jump whatever he dishes out on the night!”

This attempt will round out what is set to be an incredible evening of entertainment. As well as 17 other separate world record attempts, the event will feature an integrated pyrotechnics display and the sounds of home-grown talents Dead Letter Circus, Mammal and Kill the Capital.

There will also be a full Crusty Demons freestyle show with star riders including world number one Nate Adams and X Games gold medalist Adam Jones as well as freaks and the gorgeous Crusty Babes.

The purpose-built down-ramp which is the biggest ever constructed had its first real test today. It is 30 feet high, 125 feet long and 60 feet wide, and uses 16,000 tonnes of dirt, costing a total of $300,000 to create.

In total, the arena contains 30,000 tonnes of dirt and cost promoters over one million dollars to create.

BARROBBIE MADDISON CRASH

MARCH 6TH 2008
Faceplant for Aussie Crusty Demon Robbie Maddison

March 06, 2008 12:00pm
AUSTRALIAN motorcycle daredevil Robbie Maddison has spectacularly crashed while attempting one of his easiest tricks.
The Crusty Demon came to grief after a gust of wind blew him off balance while attempting a handlebar handstand trick and, on landing, the bike hit a wet patch throwing him to the ground. AAP photographer Julian Smith said Maddison, 26, was shaken up after the botched jump in Melbourne's Docklands precinct. He was taken to hospital suffering from a severely grazed hip. "He was about 20m in the air when he was caught in a cross-wind that threw him off balance," Smith said. "It was his third warmup jump, and one of his easiest tricks, but he was pretty shaken up after the fall." After dusting himself off, Maddison said he would have jumped again if the bike had not been so badly damaged. Publicist Martine Cousins said there was some pressure on Maddison to jump even though the conditions were not to his liking. "He didn't want to disappoint people," Cousins said. Despite the mishap, Maddison is set to try to better his world record of 32 98m set on New Year's Eve in the US with a 106m jump at Calder Park later his month. Watch the drama unfold

BARSCOTT MURRAY LANDS FIRST EVER DOUBLE BACK FLIP IN AUSTRALIA

MARCH 3RD 2008
SCOTT MURRAY DOUBLE FLIPS INTO EXTREME SPORTS HISTORY
The most death defying trick in extreme sports successfully completed in Australia

The Crusty Demons show in Launceston tonight played host to a monumental event in action sports when American daredevil Scott Murray pulled off an incredible double back flip. Scott is one of only two men to have ever completed the trick and the only man in history to have completed it more than once. Prior to tonight the double back flip had only ever been completed successfully once in competition by the world famous Travis Pastrana at the ESPN X Games in Los Angeles.

The atmosphere was electric at Aurora Stadium as the crowd of around 10,000 waited in anticipation for the craziest trick in extreme sport. Every pair of eyes was on Scott as soon as he revved his motorbike and hit the ramp to flip twice in the air as if in slow motion. Landing it perfectly he rode off the lander and into the history books. The crowd erupted in screams and cheers and were in complete shock and awe of what they had just witnessed.

Scott made two attempts at the double back flip on the first stop of the Unleash Hell Regional Tour in Canberra on February 16, but crashed badly on the second. Falling four metres off the lander he was taken off to hospital by paramedics. Miraculously escaping injury he was released from hospital the following day and has been recovering and training hard determined to land the insane manoeuvre this time round.

“I was so disappointed I let the fans down in Canberra and there was no way I wanted to that again. I knew I had it this time and it feels so awesome to pull off what I came here to do. I could feel the tension in the crowd and it just made me more determined,” said Scott. “I can’t explain how great this feels!”

The whole show had the crowd going crazy with perfect weather conditions for riders to pull out all stops. The top three riders in the world were on show - world number one Nate Adams, X Games gold medallist Adam Jones and Mike Mason - all from the USA as well as Australia’s number one “Bilko” and the rest of the Crusty crew.

New Crusty Demons rider Nicky Danielson from the US pulled off an insane Shoalin Flip where he
flicked his legs through the handlebars whilst upside down in the middle of a back flip. Other highlights included an all in expression session and back flip train.

I'm not talking about the riders.i'm talking about the true hardcore fans. That been in on the program since the begining like me.14 fucking years of total disregard for authority!. Don't have a go at me. I mean selling out the superdomes, and arena's is special in itself. There's no greater high than 18,000 people cheering for ya!. But at the smaller outdoor venues have the own special way about thing's?!. You shake alot more hand's. Kiss alot more baby's and here a lot more "i crashed bigger than Seth" story's!.

Bubba was fatter or skinnier the last time. Foreman was off his chop's drunk. The crusty babes swang around a pole for a living during the week. Mike Jones was still acting like he was married. Mike Porra (promoter) padled life boards in red speedo's!. Tammy Porra was hangiing with the snowmobiler!. Jon Guetter was fliping honda's 4 wheeler's,not bombardier's!. Oh ya did i mention
